Hi, I’m Sarah. As a mom of two, I’ve always believed that travel is the ultimate opportunity for a child’s imagination to take flight—but only if we give them the right tools to engage with it.
I’ve been in that middle seat and on those long car rides, and I knew there had to be a better way to navigate the journey: one that didn't rely on the passive glow of a screen or the clutter of bulky plastic. I wanted something that respected a child's natural need to touch, move, and create.
I started So Handmade to bridge the gap between deep developmental play and the inherent chaos of travel. I didn't just want 'toys'; I wanted portable, rollable, and mess-free play stations that could slip into a diaper bag and unfold into a world of imagination on a tiny tray table.
Every So Handmade product begins in my home studio in Woodstock, NY. I personally design each piece, using a blend of hand-screen printing and digital textiles before sewing them together with a focus on durability and detail.
For me, the design process doesn't end at the sewing machine. Meeting parents and grandparents at craft shows is where my products truly come to life. Those real-world conversations and feedback sessions allow me to refine every mat and kit, ensuring they aren't just toys—they are proven, parent-tested solutions that I know kids will love and use for years.
