Give Back Partner: Children In The Wilderness
I am so proud to be partnering with Children in The Wilderness to give back a portion of my sales to this incredible charity.
I lived and worked for 6 years in Namibia in Southern Africa and this is when I heard about Children in The Wilderness. I began to volunteer for the program and eventually became the Manager of the Children In The Wilderness Namibia. It is an organization close to my heart and am thrilled to be able to share its story and mission. The program works with orphaned and vulnerable children from across the country giving them the opportunity to attend life changing camps. On these camps we were able to engage them in fun and educationally conservation activities as well as life skills, health and confidence building. I saw such changes in these children through the course of there time with us that we also started a follow up program to work with them at their schools going forward.

Children in the Wilderness is a non-profit organization supported by ecotourism company Wilderness Safaris which aims to facilitate sustainable conservation through leadership development and education of children in Africa.
Insight, care and commitment are required to conserve Africa’s pristine wilderness and wildlife areas. If we are to ensure that these places continue to exist – in this generation and those to come – we need the rural children of Africa to understand the importance of conservation and its relevance in their lives. Hence, our Children in the Wilderness programme: an environmental and life skills educational programme for children, focusing on the next generation of decision-makers; inspiring them to care for their natural heritage and to become the custodians of these areas in the future.

This is achieved in a variety of ways – from hosting Eco-Club programmes at local schools, to running camps at Wilderness Safaris and partner camps, for the children within the rural communities that live on the edges of the wild areas of Africa.
I will be donating 5% of my sales every month to Children in the Wilderness Namibia in order to sponsor children to attend camps and remain part of the program afterwards through the Eco- Clubs. To give you an example here are some of the costs involved in the program:
- CITW Eco-camp cost per child for transport, meals, accommodation and activities- $700
- Primary school scholarship- $250
- High school scholarship- $300
- Tertiary scholarship- $4000
- Maintaining a partner school’s Eco-garden per year the gardens feed vulnerable day scholars at those schools)- $2000
